A Few Of My Favorite Things
My name is Shannon Grigg.
I was born and raised in Idaho.
I am the oldest of five kids so I have always been around little kids.
I went to school in Utah where I met and married my husband.
We have been married for about 8 years and have two adorable little girls.
We moved to the Austin area in September of 2019.
As a girl from the mountain west, Texas has been an adjustment. Though I don’t really miss all the snow, I am not sure how I feel about all the critters!

-
I took classes and learned skills to integrate music, art, and movement into my lessons.

I have some experience with sign language and try to incorporate this into our learning as well. If children learn with their eyes, their ears and their hands, they will learn more quickly.
Teaching Experience
Teaching Philosophy
Little Heroes Preschool focuses on helping to prepare your child for Kindergarten and further learning. My goal is to develop a well-rounded curriculum that ensures that your child is growing academically, physically, behaviorally, socially and emotionally. In order to be sure that your child learns skills that are appropriate for their developmental level, I utilize the principles of Developmentally Appropriate Practice. This ensures that your student will be learning skills and information that they are developmentally prepared for. This will help each child to learn and grow in school. By using a well-rounded curriculum, it will ensure that your child does not have any learning gaps as they prepare for school. A strong foundation in the early years of education can lead to greater success in the future. If a child has learning gaps, they will struggle with their understanding of concepts. This often continues as they get older, and they struggle as they constantly try to fill those gaps.
I use play, art, music, and movement to make my lessons engaging and exciting for these young students. Often the students do not even realize they are learning. They are just playing. I make sure that all activities are appropriate for the development of my students. Each class is specifically designed for the ages and abilities in that class. I have built my own curriculum, and I am very deliberate in the activities I have chosen. I strive to challenge my students to help them grow, but not so much that they become discouraged. I believe that learning should be an exciting adventure, not a chore. I know that every child is unique and needs to learn in their own way. I am very passionate about getting to know my students personally and helping them all to learn and grow in the best way for them.
